| City Of Cross Plains Senior Citizens Center Site Proprietor - Dannes Turner Dannes was employed by Texas Heritage Bank for over 30 years and currently serves in the position of Administrator for Senior Citizens Center for the City of Cross Plains.. Dannes graduated as Valedictorian of her 1977 Cross Plains High School class. In 1978 she went on to marry her High School sweetheart Greg Turner. Greg is the owner of Turner Landscape Irrigation and together, he and Dannes have two children – Joseph and Jennifer – who both graduated from Cross Plains High School. Dannes and Greg have two grandchildren. Dannes is also President of the Economic Development Corporation of Cross Plains Texas, to which she brings an insight not only to the professional aspect of the position but also a genuine concern for the continued viability of the economic infrastructure of Cross Plains. Having served on the EDC since 1994, Dannes has exhibited an uncommon desire for the advancement of established local businesses while at the same time encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit. Dannes’ determination in volunteerism has been rewarded as she was recognized with the Mason’s “Community Builder’s Award” in 2004. Her character of selflessness is demonstrated through the many hours given in support of organizations such as United Fund (Treasurer), the Barbarian Festival Committee, Cross Plains Cancer Fund, Technology Committee at Cross Plains ISD, and Meals on Wheels. Even though their children have long graduated from Cross Plains High Schools, Dannes and Greg still volunteer for concession stand duties and support school functions in many areas of activity. Recognized with a certificate of appreciation for participating in the prison ministry “Glorify Restoration Justice Ministry”, Dannes’ faith is one that bears fruit and is known by its works. As a member of First Baptist Church since 1974 her commitment is evident as she teaches third and fourth grade Sunday school classes as well as serving on the Personnel Committee. Dannes enjoys camping with her family, fishing, water and snow skiing, long walks and enjoying nature. “I am blessed to have lived in Cross Plains most of my life and having the opportunity to raise my children in an environment where helping others is a cooperative spirit. Serving on the EDC has given me another means by which to give back to the community I love.” |
